Shreveport, La. is home to The Fuller Center’s flagship building program. Home construction began in December 2005 as a response to the housing crisis created by an influx of Hurricane Katrina evacuees to the area. The Fuller Center completed 33 new homes and eight Greater Blessing renovations before turning the project over to local leadership in January 2008. Since then Fuller Center of Northwest Louisiana has built nine new homes and 33 Greater Blessing Box projects have been completed. Fuller Center for Housing of NWLA is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need.
Greater Blessing Projects:
Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana continues to work on Greater Blessing projects throughout the Shreveport area. Their latest Greater Blessing project was for 84 year old widower Thelma Farnell, whose 40 year old home was in bad need of many repairs. The house had shifted, the kitchen floor needed tile and some board replacement, there was a leak under the kitchen cabinet where the ground was visible, sheetrock needed to be replaced in the bathroom, and some other rooms of the house.
Latest Project:
Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana started their 43rd new home in the neighborhood of Allendale. The new home will be for the family of Willie and Cora Rochelle and their seven children. The home will be handicapped accessible since Mr. Rochelle has suffered several strokes and is confined to a wheelchair. Volunteers are needed to help work on the home-come and be a part of helping this family.
