Potomac Highlands Partnership Housing
Location
Potomac Highlands Partnership Housing was formed in 2005 to work in conjunction with Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity in order to expand affordable housing opportunities throughout the underserved region of the Potomac Highlands in West Virginia.
We seek to provide equitable solutions to the unmet housing needs in the Potomac Highlands. This will be accomplished by establishing partnerships with families and organizations that will facilitate the construction of new affordable housing and the renovation of substandard housing.
In 2007, recognizing the inspirational leadership of Millard and Linda Fuller, Potomac Highlands Partnership Housing aligned its mission and core values with The Fuller Center for Housing and became a covenant partner.
Current Project:
Work has begun on the home of Carl Foltz, a 69 year old man who recently lost his wife. No longer able to health wise do the repairs to his home. Mr. Foltz lives in a single wide mobile home that he purchased for $1000 fourteen years ago. He has added on three additions over the years and started renovations on the inside of the original portion of the trailer. His health has deteriorated so he is no longer able to neither maintain his home or continue with the rehabilitation. One of his granddaughters heard about our repair program and helped her grandfather apply for a Greater Blessing Box repair project. The floors in the kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom were all rotted. Even though his body will no longer accommodate his desire to pitch in and help he is overwhelmed at the thought of strangers willing to give of themselves to help do the things that he has always done for himself.
