The Fuller Center for Housing of Central Florida Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that seeks to eradicate poverty housing by promoting partnerships with individuals and community groups to build and rehabilitate homes for people in need. FCH Central Florida is an ecumenical Christian organization that invites and welcomes volunteers and supporters of all faiths who share our basic belief in giving people dignity by helping them build and own a home.
Projects In Progress:
The wheelchair ramp for an elderly couple in need of handicap accessibility has almost been completed. Work continues for a walk in shower, a new exterior door, and serious electrical problems that needed to be corrected. The handicap retro and critical repairs will allow them to stay in their home many more years.
Projects:
Central Florida Fuller Center continues to move ahead after completing a major rehab project for Bud and Sandra Jordan. The project included replacing a rotting kitchen, flooring, and major roof repairs. They are also finishing three Greater Blessing Box projects and eight more are planned before the year ends. Additional projects are being planned with funds received from a local grant to help paint 5 homes. Central Florida FCH will be sending a team of volunteers to the Millard Fuller Legacy Build in Lanett, Alabama in August of this year to help participate in building 6 new homes and 10 home renovation projects. In addition, Central Florida FCH is involved with a collaboration to help build an Orphanage in the Bahamas on Current (South of Eluthera). This is a collabaration between the Govt of the Bahamas, The First United Methodist Church of Orlando, and The Fuller Center for Housing of Central Florida. Foundation work and walls will go up this Fall and the roof will be put on in January.
