Introduction

Inspired by 700, 1,000, and 1,200 mile walks led by Millard and Linda Fuller in the 1980's, Notre Dame graduate Ryan Iafigliola created the Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure in 2008 as a way to invite more people into our affordable housing movement. Since our inaugural ride in 2009, the event has covered more than 14,900 miles through 36 states, helped renovate or repair 50 homes, and has raised over $680,000 for families in need of housing all over the world. In addition to our summer ride, we now have a Spring Ride, which was added to the line-up in 2012 to allow for more people to join in on this great movement.

We'll continue to build upon this success during our 6th annual summer adventure and our 2nd annual spring ride. The spring ride will take us down the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway, March 15-23. Our summer ride will have us once again traveling across the country starting in Savannah, GA and ending 3,700 miles later in Vancouver, BC. The ride will include several stops along the way to work on Fuller Center projects.

Why do we ride? It's pretty simple:

1. To spread the word about our ministry
2. To raise money for our ministry's work
3. To develop new partners along the way

The result of the ride is that the homes of real people get built and renovated, the movement expands and all involved grow in faith, hope and love. The impact is larger than we'll ever know.

As a movement, we like to be flexible in giving people the opportunity to join us, so we invite volunteers to join us for a day, a segment, or the whole way, to come as an individual or to form a team. If those options don't work, then join us in spirit as a virtual rider. Together, we form The Team of the Bicycle Adventure. Learn more about joining.

2013 Goals

Our main goal, to grow the movement to end poverty housing, hasn't changed a bit as we enter into our sixth year. However here are a few specific goals that we set for this year:

  • 110 riders to join for multi-day lengths
  • Raise $220,000, which would bring our total raised by FCBA to $900,000
  • 40+ media stories
  • 50+ new church relationships
  • 2,000 members in our Facebook page
