Allen Slabaugh, 232011 Trip Leader and returning 2010 Fuller Center Cyclist Americus, GA Fundraising goal: $10,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Allen's personal page! I never would have imagined leading a cross-country bike trip while I was in college working on a Business Administration and Sport Management degrees. However two years later here I am doing just that. I arrived in Americus a little over a year ago after I graduated from Bluffton University in 2009. I came down here to serve a year-long term with the Mennonite Voluntary Service program working for Habitat for Humanity. During that year, Ryan (Former trip leader and founder of the event) asked me if I had interest in spending another year down in Americus, but this time volunteering for the Fuller Center for Housing and leading next year's trip. At the time I wasn't too sure what to think since I hadn't actually participated in the event yet. After thinking and praying about it for a long time I felt this was where God was calling me to be, so I said I would do it. I did get to go on a part of last year's trip and luckily I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm extremely excited about this year's ride and looking forward to meeting a lot of amazing people along the way. It will also be great to see parts of the country that I have never seen before and I couldn't think of a better way to do that than on a bike, riding to help those in need. This is going to be an amazing summer and one that I'm never going to forget. |
Kyle McDowell, 24Returning 2009 Fuller Center cyclist Columbus, OH Fundraising goal: $5,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Kyle's personal page! Hello! I'm from Columbus, OH - a Buckeye through and through. I love all things music, biking and traveling. I've been riding fixed gear for the past 3 years but I'm going to switch it up for this trip. I did the whole ride in 2009 from Lake Michigan to the Gulf Coast and it was incredible. I still remain in contact and even visit many of the 2009 riders. I've made life-long, close friendships and I've gained a passion for volunteering, particularly with The Fuller Center for Housing. Working to eradicate poverty housing is something that transcends political and religious backgrounds. This truly brings people together to do real, tangible good in the world. So, I'm going to try to eek out one more great adventure before I have to worry about real life and adulthood and all that. (Of course, I said the exact same thing back in 2009...) |
Sarah Doren, 26Returning 2010 Fuller Center cyclist Allison Park, PA Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Sarah's personal page! Last year, I rode from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. and I was hooked. I love cycling and helping others. How convenient that the FCBA does both! I am excited for this ride, cross country, because I think it is a once in a lifetime experience. So before I become a "real adult" (I will get my Master's in Counseling in May), it's time for a big adventure of this kind. I think life is an adventure and a constant reminder of the sovereignty of God and His grace and mercy through Christ Jesus. I have been blessed so much in joys and pain; this is just a small opportunity to serve others, in their joys and pain. It won't be easy but it will be worth it! |
Krystal Goodwin, 29Returning 2009 Fuller Center Cyclist Savannah, GA Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Krystal's personal page! Wow! I am extremely excited in anticipation for the 2011 FCBA! This year, I look forward to riding across the country (longitudinally this time) in an intentional effort to end poverty housing. It'll be a new year, a new path, some new Fuller Center friends, armed with the same mission set forth by Millard Fuller. The 2009 FCBA allowed me to get my hands dirty working on actual Fuller Center homes helping actual people, spreading the Fuller Center message along the way. That's the beauty of this particular "adventure", the rewards are tremendous! In addition to having the most rewarding summer of my life helping fulfill Millard's vision, I met the most wonderful and caring fellow rider who, at the time of this year's ride, will be my husband. Thus, in honor of our AMAZING experiences with the Fuller Center for Housing, we enthusiastically sign up for the 2011 ride together as a dedication to this incredible organization. I thank you in advance for your support and look forward to this new adventure! |
Michael Tiemeyer, 29Returning 2009 Fuller Center Cyclist Savannah, GA Fundraising Goal: 3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Michael's personal page! Hey Everyone! I'm so excited about joining the ride again. I had such a wonderful time in 2009 that I had to come back for more. The five weeks of riding from Lake Michigan to the Gulf of Mexico was the best experience of my life. I was lucky enough to make a difference in so many people's lives by showing them love and compassion in their time of need. The chance to help people fulfill their basic need of a simple, decent place to live is both a humbling and rewarding experience that truly brings perspective to life. I met too many amazing people to give thanks to in this space, but there is one person that I must recognize. During the bike trip, I met and came to know my future wife, Krystal Goodwin. We will be married on May 20, 2011, and this trip will be sort of a honeymoon for us! I know that this Summer will be just as great, and I can't wait for it to begin! |
Broomfield, CO Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Tom's personal page! Born and raised on the North Side of Chicago, so naturally, I’m a Cubs fan! I served in the Air Force then returned to Illinois State to get my BS in Education. My wife, Lois, and I raised our two sons in Texas. During my working life I have taught in both middle and high school settings, have been director of printing services for an association in Texas, and have owned a couple of small family businesses. We’ve now moved to Colorado and I am greatly enjoying my life as a retiree in Broomfield. We are near our older son and his wife (both Lutheran ministers) and our two grandchildren (10 and 12). Our younger son and his wife moved from Alaska to Illinois to run our metal service center in Chicago. I am experiencing the fantastic opportunity of volunteering at the Raptor Education Foundation (www.usaref.org). I’m also an avid tennis player (bring your rackets for our off days?), have begun playing on a volleyball team with my wife, and we like ballroom dancing. I’ve enjoyed biking in my past but am really, really enjoying biking now that I’m no longer working long hours; I bike with three groups in our community. I have ridden in a number of one-day biking events since moving to Colorado, and in 2009 had a great time riding across Iowa in RAGBRAI. Since enjoying that experience I have been thinking about a ride across the country when I found info on FCBA; it sounds like a great chance to ride, as well as help folks at the same time. Stay updated by following my blog - geezerlog.blogspot.com |
Anne Troyer, 21Goshen, IN Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Anne's Personal Page! I grew up on a farm in rural Nebraska. This is my favorite place in the world. I am quite convinced that it is the best place in the world but life has taught me not to be arrogant so i want to travel the world and make sure that is the truth. After graduating high school i have "floated" around, I attended Hesston College in Kansas and following that I did a year of voluntary service in Canada. I am currently a student at Goshen College in Indiana, where I change my major more frequently then anyone should. Someday I intend on earning a bachelors in something and become a "contributing member of society" Until that happens I plan on enjoying where I am and doing my best to work for justice. Besides the pure awesomeness of being able to say I rode my bike across the country, I wanted to do this bike adventure because I see the Fuller Center as an organization that is really working for justice. We are humans, a broken yet somehow beautiful people striving for wholeness. The only way I know to strive for wholeness is through community. I believe in this world that we can love, learn and liberate, if we only take action. My faith calls me into action. I know this isn't going to solve all the world's problems, but hey, got to start somewhere right? |
Athens, GA Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Jefferson County Fuller Center Go to Ashley Rae's personal page! My name's Ashley Rae, Stumbling across this program is one of the most providential occurrences I've experienced in some time. An incredible opportunity for me to study in India this summer fell through a couple weeks ago and I was really disappointed. But I've really felt this press to do something significant right now, not when I graduate or have more means etc. I'd been mulling over what to do with my summer, now that it's open to anything, when I absentmindedly clicked on an ad for this. The big issue I'd been praying about was that I could never commit to making anything happen because all of my options seemed to allow only for me to invest in myself. All of them were thrilling opportunities, but I didn't feel settled about spending 1-3 whole months focusing entirely on me, I wanted to have something to offer to the suffering world. This trip, unlike anything I'd looked into previously, would allow me to do just that AND achieve something I've dreamed of for years at the same time. It is just like God to orchestrate something like that. I'm so excited to meet the team, watch the landscape change... watch myself change. This might be brilliant. |
Jason Raeburn, 20Beacon, NY Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Jason's personal page! Hey guys, my name is Jason Raeburn and I love to bike, so when I found out about the Fuller Center Bike Adventure I was blown away! Not only is it a cross country trip, BUT its a trip of faith and service to add. A couple of months ago I was wondering what to do for summer, so I prayed. A few days later I found out about this amazing adventure. I believe this is Gods work. |
Megan East, 25Returning 2009 Fuller Center Cyclist Milan, MI Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Greater Toledo Fuller Center Go to Megan's personal page! In 2009 I participated in the Michigan-Florida FCBA ride. It was the summer of my life. I made life long friends, met families that made an extremely big impact on my life, a passion for the Fuller Center and made memories that I think about everyday. Being from Michigan I always hear people talking about the dreaded drive to Florida. Its great to be like I actually have biked that, its not to bad. I wanted to do last years trip, but had to make some important life choices. Everyday I regret it, Everyday I think about how I wish I would of done it, and everyday I remember how much I loved biking MI to Fl. I talk to someone associated with the 2009 summer of a lifetime almost everyday. I can't wait to meet new faces and see old faces (happy honeymoon Krystal and Michael. Can't wait to see you Lisa, Kyle, Ryan and I know there will be others) during the 2011 ride, that I'm sure will be associated with the new summer of a lifetime. This trip is a no brainer, I wanted to do it. But...... for all of us involved, it also means a summer of no income. I prayed about what to do. My heart sure wanted to do the trip, but was it the best decision for me. Well..... God answered one day and I figured out a plan to be able to do this trip financially. I can't wait. Can it be June 10th yet? Oyee! to all the FCBA riders. |
Laura Larson, 49Traverse City, MI Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Needed Most Go to Laura's personal page! Hi! My name is Laura and I'm a former Project Manager in an IT department in Traverse City, Michigan. Riding across the United States by bike has been a goal of mine ever since I can remember. I think I caught the bug while I was planning my solo trip around northern Michigan after graduating high school many years ago. You can say my life has been dedicated to serving, through a career in the Air Force and also on Christian mission trips to Guatemala, Mississippi, and most recently Haiti. I was looking for a mission trip to replace one that was canceled for May, and I saw the Fuller Center Bike Adventure. What a wonderful opportunity to combine bicycling and serving those in need with the planned builds along the way. I'm looking forward to the adventure! |
Saginaw, MI Fundraising Goal: $3,600 - Where Most Needed Go to Mike's personal page! Hi, I'm Mike Haiderer. I am trying to figure out what God wants me to do with my life. I heard about this ride on the one and only Facebook, and was like hey that sounds cool. I love Jesus and Cycling so I think this trip would be fun. I also like to build things so when I heard that I get to help build houses I was completely sold! I attended Concordia University Ann-Arbor and graduated with a double Major in Math and Biology. I ran cross country and track. I originally started cycling as a way to cross train because I hurt my knees, now I just cycle. I have worked at bicycle shops the last 4 summers. Working there further cemented my love for cycling and also made me a pretty good bicycle mechanic. I estimate I have put together over a 1000 bicycles during my time there. I am really looking forward to helping people on this ride and curious for what God has planned on it. |
Chris Cosby, 49Returning 2008, 2009, & 2010 Fuller Center Cyclist West Point, GA Fundraising Goal: $5,000 - Chattahoochee Fuller Center Go to Chris's personal page! Since I was the first rider to sign up for the first FCBA, it makes sense that I am (probably) the last rider to sign up for this summer's ride. I rode the whole distance in 2008 and 2010, but this year I am hoping for more hills and fewer flats (tires and terrain!). The week after the ride ends, I start a new job with Habitat in Birmingham. What better way to get in shape? |
Segment Cyclists
Ryan Iafigliola, 25Former Trip Leader and Founder of the Bicycle Adventure Americus, GA Segment: Seattle - ? Fundraising goal: $20,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Ryan's personal page. Creating this event as a volunteer Special Assistant to Millard Fuller in 2008 and watching it grow and develop each year has been one of the most meaningful activities of my life. I've been privileged to participate in every bit of its first 3 years, covering its 24 states, 7,200 miles, and over $300,000 raised. But like our bike routes, life's road takes many turns, some of which are not entirely foreseen, and now my role with the Fuller Center has changed. My responsibilities include supporting and contributing oversight to our work around the world in places like Peru, El Salvador, Haiti, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Congo, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and Armenia. It's a big job that I'm still learning, but thankfully we have so many talented and trustworthy leaders around the world doing the hard parts. It soon became obvious that with the international programs and the Bike Adventure both fighting for my time and attention, one - or both - would suffer. Thankfully God heard our prayer for help and the incredibly talented and dedicated Allen Slabaugh arrived, agreeing to give up an entire year as a volunteer to organize the 2011 ride. It could not be in better hands. I remain as passionate about the event as ever; in fact, my new role has shown me all the more clearly why it is so greatly needed, and so I'll be riding for as much as possible this summer. How much that will be is anyone's guess, but hey, let me just say that if someone donates $1million for my ride I'll commit right now to going the whole way! This may be a breakthrough year for the event. I can't wait to be part of it once again! |
Bob Driscoll, 45Moline, IL Segment: Bloomington, IL - Washington, D.C. (8-9) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Bob's personal page! I am a Youth Pastor who is not (as of this writing) on staff anywhere. My wife and I own and perform with our family entertainment business (www.zanyjanie.com), and this gives a significant amount of flexibility in our schedule. A local rider who is planning to do the entire ride gave us a brochure and God immediately broke our hearts for the cause of helping those who don't have adequate housing. |
Hailey Dady, 26West Lafayette, IN Segment: Bloomington, IL to Washington, D.C. (8-9) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Haiti Go to Hailey's personal page! Hello Everyone! My name is Hailey Dady and I was born in Kearney, Neb. I attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln for my undergrad where I received a degree in Marketing and minor in Graphic Arts. That’s right everyone I am a Cornhusker and I bleed red! :D After graduation I joined AmeriCorps and moved to West Lafayette, Ind. During my two-year AmeriCorps term I served with Habitat for Humanity of Indiana. While serving, I gained a heart for Habitat’s mission and helping people in need. One of my tasks during this time was organizing a 350-mile bike tour around Indiana called Cover Indiana. I had never biked more than 10 miles before but I knew I needed to experience the ride if I was going to have to promote it in the future. So I joined another Habitat ride called Bucket 100 and in 40-degree weather I got on a bike and rode 120 miles in two days. At the finish I fell to the ground with true joy. I didn’t move much the next couple of days but I gained a love for cycling I never knew I would have. Since then I have ridden in six other rides, including a cross-country ride last year with Bike & Build, another organization which raises money and awareness for affordable housing (Providence, R.I. to Seattle, Wash.). I am now enrolled in Seminary at Grace in Winona Lake, Ind. I will be receiving a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. I also enjoy volunteering with International Students on Purdue’s Campus. Riding my bike across the United States this last summer was by far the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. Even though I know the challenge ahead of me, I am looking forward to the long hours on the road and meeting people from all walks of life. I’m looking forward to coasting down the backs of mountains and seeing the sight of the Atlantic Ocean at the end. This journey will definitely leave a lasting impact on my life and I pray on many others. I hope that this experience will be an encouragement to each of you to follow your dreams and to never give up! So together may we DREAM BIG! |
David Crane, 54Pittsburgh, PA Segment: Seattle to Salt Lake City (1-3) Fundraising Goal: $5,000 - Where Most Needed Go to David's personal page! Like Millard, I too was an entrepreneur in my 20s and 30s, spending time in San Fransisco, Vail, Cape Cod, and Atlanta amassing a small fortune. The key difference was that his totaled in the millions and was given to worthwhile causes; mine totaled hundreds and was lost along with the shirt off my back. For the past 16 years I've worked for the Postal Service, living in Pittsburgh, and renovating a Victorian house. Apparently 16 years is not enough time for me because its still not done! During that time I picked up some mad construction skills, and began riding a road bike after Lance won his fifth Tour de France title for the USPS team. Sixteen years is a long time (for me) to be settled into a 9-5 life. Time for an adventure! This years W2W route (has anyone trademarked that yet?) will take me through states that I have never visited. The best part will be that, like Millard, I will be raising money, raising roofs, and raising awareness for a great cause. Lastly, on the surface, it probably doesn't look like this trip is much of a sacrifice for the riders. Fly to Seattle, ride a bike through the United States, meals prepared for you, bags carted to your next location, media attention--like a professional sports team, right? I don't know about that, but I do know that the two hours a day I will spend on my bike this winter is where the sacrifice begins for me. I've never ridden 75 miles a day back to back to back. But I know that without preparing for it, I won't be able to do it. I'm looking forward to being a part of something great! |
Hoyt Robey, 49Bellevue, WA Segment: Seattle to Kellogg, ID (1) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Hoyt's personal page! I was planning a self supported bicycle tour from Seattle to Crater Lake, Oregon this next summer. When I learned about the Fuller organization bicycle tour I was intrigued. The more I researched the group the more impressed I was. My heart was moved at the thought of directly helping someone with their housing. From the moment I watched the Christmas message video I decided to delay my own tour, I was ALL IN for the Fuller Center for Housing Bicycle Tour! |
Doug Costlow, 24Tallmadge, OH Segment: Seattle - Denver (1-4) Fundraising Goal: $3,000 - Haiti Go to Doug's Personal Page! I first heard about this bike adventure from some friends who did the trip last year, Brett and Melissa. I was intrigued by the fact that you could raise money for people who need a decent place to live, build and repair houses for those in need, meet new people, and ride a bike across the country. The "drifter" in me has always wanted to travel at a slower pace, like on a bike, but to know I could do that and help people along the way, made this trip seem all the more worth it. I have been given the opportunity to take a month off and ride from Seattle to Denver. I’m looking forward to riding through the mountains and think the scenery alone will be enough to keep me going. I have been an avid mountain biker for the past few years but have never done any touring on a bike. I recently graduated with a mechanical engineering degree and enjoy building things so I’m also looking forward to the build day. I know this is going to be a great trip and I’m excited to meet everyone that I get to experience it with. |
Kimberly Korzym, 22Columbia, SC Segment: Columbus, OH - Washington, D.C. (9) Fundraising Goal: $700 - Where Most Needed Go to Kim's personal page! My name is Kim, I am 22 years old and a History student at the University of South Carolina. I was born and raised just outside of St. Louis, Missouri which is where I got my first experience in affordable housing through volunteering with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. Last summer I continued my work on housing, and biking, by riding cross country with a group called Bike and Build. I raised over $4,000 and biked over 4300 miles from Charleston, South Carolina to Santa Cruz, California. It was an amazing experience and has changed my life. I am dedicated to using my bike to raise awareness and cannot wait to ride with the Fuller Center this summer. |
Returning 2010 Fuller Center Cyclist Kansas City, MO Segment: Denver to Kansas City (5-6) Fundraising Goal: $5,000 - Fuller Center of Kansas City, MO Go to Graham's personal page! I have dedicated myself to helping provide decent, affordable and safe housing to people in need. I helped start the Fuller Center for Housing of Greater Kansas City, MO in 2009. We are thrilled that the 2011 FCBA is coming through Kansas City and will help raise money and awareness throughout the metro area. |
Jessica Thompson, 25North Royalton, OH Segment: Seattle to Denver (1-4) Fundraising Goal: $1,700 - Where Most Needed Go to Jessica's personal page! Hello, my name is Jessica Thompson. I am a high school English teacher and softball coach in Cleveland, Ohio. Along with teaching, I also like to support my community by volunteering and creating opportunities for young adults to grow as leaders and serve in their community. I joined the ride because I wanted to give my extra time to others, meet new people and expand my service outside of my community. I think this ride will correspond with my personal philosophy, which is to challenge myself to do good for others and for God. |

Tiffany Ellis, 26Muncie, IN Segment: Bloomington, IL to Columbus, OH (8) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Tiffany's personal page! I'm Tiffany and I love being active and using my recreational time to draw closer to the Lord. Currently I'm studying Linguistics and TESOL at Ball State University. For Summer 2011 I'd like to get my feet wet with one segment of the ride in hopes that I will be able to participate in the full journey summer of 2012. |
Emily Ward, 26Las Vegas, Nevada Segment: Salt Lake City to Denver (4) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Emily's personal page! My name is Emily Ward and I am 26 years old born and raised in Las Vegas. I go to school at Nevada State College and am studying Elementary Education. I love biking and did my first race last summer, but this is more ambitious from my last biking adventure. I am doing this to show my family and friends that you can't let fear stop you from experiencing life and once you put your trust in the Lord anything is possible. |
Aimee James, 34Overland Park, KS Segment: Denver to Kansas City (5-6) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Aimee's personal page! I love God, I love my husband, I love people and I love biking! God gave me the ability to ride and enjoy riding, so it's time for me to use that gift to help others in His name. I also love a challenge and can't wait to spend July on my bike. I am a special education teacher, so July is my month off between summer school in June and the new school year in August. I am also a fencer and I play the saxophone in the band at Crest Bible Church. My husband Eric will be supporting me by dropping me off in Denver and praying for me the whole way. |
Tucson, AZ Segment: Seattle to Denver (1-4) Fundraising Goal: $2,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Scottie's personal page! I am a statistics major at the University of Arizona, originally from the great state of Washington. I love doing recreational riding around Tucson, especially in some of the more mountainous roads. When I saw this, I about freaked out. I've always wanted to do something like this and to be able to help out by raising money and through working, I couldn't refuse. I am a Christian and my main goal is to glorify and honor my God through any and all of the skills that he has given me. He told me to love others as He loved me with everything that I can, and I plan on doing that to the best of my ability. |
Karen Warkentien, 46Arlington, VA Segment: Columbus, OH to Washington, D.C Fundraising Goal: $2,500 - Where Most Needed Go to Karen's personal page! Hi, I'm Karen, but most people call me Toolie due to the wide assortment of tools that I bring to builds. I've wanted to do the Fuller Center Bike Adventure ever since I first heard about the inaugural ride from San Diego to Tybee Island. This trip allows me to do two things I really enjoy: riding bicycles and building houses. It will test my stamina as I've never ridden in a multi-day event before but I'm up for the challenge and can't wait to get out there and ride the last segment from Columbus, OH to Washington, D.C. But I probably won't bring quite as many tools this time since I'm not sure my panniers (or, more importantly, my legs) would appreciate it. :-) |
Eric Burgmann, 55Cincinnati, OH Segment: Columbus, OH to Washington, D.C. (9) Fundraising Goal: $3,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Eric's personal page! I’m an avid endurance cyclist with visions of someday riding across country. I also have some construction skills being the chair of my church’s buildings and grounds committee and having renovated the four houses I’ve owned. The fuller ride seemed like a perfect fit. |
Tobie Kniess, 55Indianapolis, IN Segment: Bloomington, IL to Washington, D.C. (8-9) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Where Most Needed Go to Tobie's personal page! I am a retired family law attorney with five grandchildren. I met the Fullers at the first Blitz Build in Shreveport. My life has never been the same. Millard could set a room ablaze with his enthusiasm. I will never stop trying to improve my neighborhoods, or helping others do the same. I will support Fuller Center and its mission as long as I can still stand up. |
Jim McCracken, 54Clarkston, WA Segement: Kellogg, ID - West Yellowstone, MT (2) Fundraising Goal: $500 - Where Most Needed Go to Jim's personal page! I work at the Center for New Directions at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. This event looks like a great opportunity to contribute to affordable housing and highlight the bicycle as a healthy, efficient and sustainable means of transportation. I would love to participate in the whole trip across the country but can only get away for one segment. Micah 6:8 is my inspiration for joining this group: "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to [ride] humbly with your God." |
Eric McQuesten, 24Columbus, OH Segment: Columbus, OH - Washington, D.C. (9) Fundraising Goal: $500 - Where Most Needed Go to Eric's personal page! Hi, My name is Eric. I am 24 years old and I am excited to be joining this ride. I have always wanted to do something like this, but not only that but to do it with people who follow Christ. I have decided to do this because I want to use my time and energy to help others and to build myself with endurance to know that I can do anything that I put my mind to. |

Ivan Cunningham, 28Returning 2009 & 2010 Fuller Center Cyclist Lawrence, KS Segment: Denver to Kansas City (5-6) Fundraising Goal: $1,000 - Fuller Center of Kansas City, MO I am a firm believer that, as human beings, we have an obligation to do everything within our power to help one another, especially those who may currently be less fortunate than ourselves. If you stop to think about all the insane coincidences and chance meetings that had to occur since the dawn of mankind, everybody on the planet today is pretty amazing and worthy of compassion. I first got involved with the Fuller Center when I saw an ad on Facebook in 2009, for that year's Bike Adventure. I'd been involved with Habitat for Humanity off and on over the years and the FCBA seemed like something worthwhile and different from anything I'd done before. I rode on the first segment and a half of that trip, from Lake Michigan to Louisville, KY, and was hooked. I came back last year to ride the whole thing, but I knew that that would be the last year I'd be able to do that for a while. I'm super excited to see friends from both 2009 & 2010 on this year's FCBA! |
